Unique Models Emerge from Baume & Mercier
At SIHH 2016, Baume & Mercier released three types of models. Two men's models and one women's model comprised a rather distinctive lineup.
There are two men's chronographs. The "Clifton" emphasizes a refined, authentic image with its multi-functional and highly finished design. In contrast, the limited edition "Capeland" model expresses a motorsports spirit, embodying activity and a challenging ethos.
For ladies' models, the straps are a distinctive feature, while mother-of-pearl dials and diamond-set bezels add an iconic design touch, evoking the joy of wearing a watch.
Each watch has a clear concept, making them accessible even to those new to luxury timepieces, and they represent the brand's origins.
Active Design Full of Racing Spirit
The "Capeland Shelby® Cobra 1963" chronograph, with its striking motorsports-inspired form, was unveiled. This is a limited edition model honoring the legendary "Cobra" car and its achievements.
The Shelby® Cobra CSX2128, a legendary car that achieved numerous victories in endurance races, including the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1963, served as the inspiration for this watch's design.
The three subdials all pay homage to the car's colors and details. For instance, the asymmetrical dial design evokes the Cobra's instrument panel. The shape of the hands is inspired by the Cobra's steering wheel, and the two stripes appearing on the black dial are reminiscent of the Cobra's body paint. The chronograph hand features its emblem, and the see-through sapphire crystal case back is engraved with the period racing number 15, with elements evoking the Cobra found throughout. The yellow accents on the small hands and the underside of the strap add a vibrant contrast and lift the mood.
This limited edition model is designed to appeal to car and racing enthusiasts, and would be particularly recommended for those with a deep appreciation for historical racing.

Classic Chronograph
The "Clifton Chronograph Complete Calendar" refers to a watch equipped with a complete calendar, which includes not only the date, day of the week, and month, but also a moon phase indicator. This is also known as a full calendar. Both require complex mechanical movements, and combining them with a chronograph results in a luxurious specification that satisfies the owner's desire for exclusivity.
The new "Clifton Chronograph Complete Calendar" features a pointer-type date display and a co-axial layout for the moon phase and 12-hour counter, simplifying a potentially complex arrangement.
The case and dial designs also adhere to the brand's philosophy, embodying elegance and classicism. This is the kind of watch that can be confidently recommended to anyone.

The "Petite Promesse" Collection for Ladies
Baume & Mercier is focusing on ladies' models with this new "Petite Promesse" collection.
The eye-catching feature is the double-wrap strap. It enhances the watch's presence beyond that of a standard timepiece and can even alter the wearer's mood. For example, this orange color evokes a sense of adventure, making one want to go out.
The watch itself is imbued with a feminine charm. The small 22mm size is typical for ladies' watches, truly a charming "petite" size. The dial is made of mother-of-pearl, its luster beautifully shifting like ripples. The dot indexes set only at 12 and 6 o'clock, adorned with small diamonds, subtly decorate the dial.
The case and bezel have a subtly widening oval shape, standing out amongst the predominantly round watches. Furthermore, the bezel is set with small diamonds, which sparkle beautifully.
This model, a modern refinement of Baume & Mercier's ladies' designs from the 1920s, masterfully inherits tradition and is poised to gain support as a partner that will always be close to a woman's wrist.
