A Tradition of "Originality" That Continues to Evolve
Hublot, French for "porthole" (the round window on the side of a ship's hull), lends its name to the watch's bezel. In the fiercely competitive world of luxury sports watches, this distinct character sets Hublot apart, making it a brand of choice for celebrities.
This unique identity dates back to the launch of its first product in 1980. The impetus for Hublot's creation came from founder Carlo Crocco's personal desire. Finding no sports watch on the market that met his own standards, he decided to create one himself.
The anecdote of the first customer for Crocco's innovative sports watch being the former King of Greece is well-known among its aficionados. Soon, Hublot gained recognition through his personal network of film actors and musicians, quietly building a reputation among the affluent. This appeal was further amplified under the stewardship of Jean-Claude Biver, a charismatic figure in contemporary watchmaking who took over brand management in 2004, leading to an explosion in popularity.
The "Big Bang," unveiled in 2005, boldly combined cutting-edge materials like ceramic, rubber, and gold. This was followed in 2007 by the "All Black" model of the Big Bang, which established a trend for an all-black aesthetic—from dial to strap—that continues to dominate the watch world, as you are likely aware.
The Ultimate Diver's Watch Arrives After Meticulous Preparation
As is typical for the brand, Hublot in 2011 is not lacking in話題性 (topics of conversation) or appeal. Among the notable releases are a chronograph with a minute repeater complication, chronographmodels featuring sapphire crystal cases colored red throughout, ladies' chronographs adorned with the popular leopard print, the first white ceramic model, and the "Masterpiece" collection of complex, fully in-house developed timepieces inheriting the technology from BNB Concept, a movement development manufacturer Hublot acquired. Each is worthy of introduction.
However, amidst these captivating collections, what we at OPENERS most want to introduce to our readers isdiver's watchthe "King Power Diver 4000 Carbon," the first diver's watch in history to achieve 4000 meters of water resistance. Its bold and powerful design and specifications, which surprise everyone, are the very essence of the Hublot brand.
King Power Diver 4000 Carbon
The current strongest professional diver's watch, achieving an astonishing 4000m water resistance.
Hublot, which has been crafting diver's watches since its inception, has perfected a remarkable high-spec model achieving an unprecedented 4000 meters of water resistance. The case and bezel are entirely crafted from carbon fiber, fired in an autoclave within Hublot's own factory, offering significantly greater lightness and rigidity than steel. The case side is equipped with a large helium escape valve, enabling saturation diving using helium-mixed gas, a standard for professional divers. Despite its substantial size, the watch offers surprising lightness and a comfortable fit on the wrist. A model with the same basic 4000-meter water resistance specification, but with a case and bezel made of titanium, is also available (estimated price: ¥1,743,000).
Self-winding, 48mm diameter carbon fiber case, carbon fiber bezel, rubber strap, limited to 1000 pieces worldwide, ¥2,331,000 (estimated price). Release date undecided.
