Hamilton: The Watch Brand Loved by Elvis Presley (1)

Hamilton's iconic "Ventura" model marks a memorial year. This year is the 80th birthday of the late Elvis Presley, the American rock star and fervent admirer of the original "Ventura" model. In 2015, new "Ventura" models paying tribute to Elvis are prepared, with the all-black model being the most striking.

A Modern Skeletonized Take on a Classical Watch

From the late 19th to the early 20th century, when Hamilton was founded, wristwatches born in America were of the highest global standard. A major reason for this was the development of railway watches, which possessed outstanding reliability and accuracy. Hamilton's wristwatches were prime examples, and the current "Railroad" model is inspired by such past pocket watches. The case has a rounded style reminiscent of pocket watches from that era, with a simple dial design.

The new 2015 model features a see-through center on the dial, housing the Cal. H-10-S with an 80-hour power reserve. The case back is also see-through, allowing appreciation of the continuously moving movement. It's a remarkably cool watch, merging the classical appearance of old railway watches with the intricate mechanics of a modern movement.

Hamilton Carries on the Legacy of Aviation Watches

Since the 1910s, Hamilton has leveraged the expertise gained from railway watches in the field of aviation timepieces. Even today, its connection to the sky remains unbroken, supporting aerobatic pilot Nicolas Ivanoff, who participates in the Red Bull Air Race.

This Worldtimer is at the forefront of aviation watches, equipped with the high-tech Cal. H-41e movement. The newly announced "Khaki Chrono Worldtimer" is a multi-function quartz watch. While such complex functions can often become overwhelming to operate, this watch allows selection between two main functions with a single touch.

By simply pressing the push-button at the 10 o'clock position, one can choose between operating the worldtimer function, which displays the time in 24 time zones, or the high-precision chronograph. The selected mode is then indicated at the 2 o'clock position, making it instantly clear which operation is currently active. Furthermore, a short press of the 10 o'clock button switches the time display to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), the common time for pilots. It is an aviation watch that has thoroughly pursued practical functionality.

An Homage to Elvis's 80th Birthday Through His Beloved Watch

The Hamilton "Ventura" first appeared in 1957. It was a landmark model in watchmaking history as the world's first electric wristwatch, and its asymmetrical design surprised the public. The great American rock star, Elvis Presley, was an avid wearer of the "Ventura" both personally and professionally. In his 1961 film "Blue Hawaii," the "Ventura" can be seen on his wrist.

Indeed, 2015 marks the 80th anniversary of Elvis Presley's birth. The "Ventura" is a model that pays homage to Elvis. While retaining the original asymmetrical silhouette, the case is now wider and more dynamic. The all-black finish and the curved case shape, designed to hug the wrist for a better fit, contribute to its striking impression. The Cal. H-10 movement offers approximately 80 hours of power reserve, ensuring excellent practicality. The contemporary and iconic "Ventura" is a pioneering watch befitting a tribute to Elvis.
