Japan's Largest Boutique

A new boutique has opened in Osaka's Shinsaibashi for the high jewelry maison Van Cleef & Arpels.

Located at the intersection of Midosuji and Nagahori-dori, a pivotal point in Shinsaibashi, the boutique spans three floors from B1 to 2F, with a total area of 636.68 square meters, making it the largest in Japan. It also features innovative elements such as a multi-purpose space in the basement, establishing it as a hub for the maison's world in the Kansai region.

The first floor showcases the maison's iconic items, including the "Alhambra" and "Perlée Collections." The second floor is primarily dedicated to the Bridal Collection. Customer reception areas are situated along the Midosuji-facing windows, allowing guests to admire the sparkle of diamonds under natural light.

The exterior adopts the maison's latest design concept. The facade features delicately woven gold metal, creating a two-tone contrast through depth and lighting. This, along with the primary black color, exudes a sophisticated ambiance.

Parts of the interior are adorned with textiles from a long-established Nishijin weaving house in Kyoto. This integration of Japanese traditional craftsmanship is said to express the savoir-faire that the maison cherishes.

The "Lucky Animals Collection" is Featured, Following the Ginza Flagship

To commemorate the opening, this boutique will feature the "Lucky Animals" jewelry collection, which was previously exclusive to the Ginza flagship. The "Lucky Animals" collection, a playful series of nine clip brooches, draws inspiration from the maison's "La Boutique" collection introduced in the 1950s.

With onyx eyes that gleam, the pieces feature intricate marquetry of lustrous mother-of-pearl and sparkling hard stones, framed by delicate beaded gold borders.

Additionally, to mark the opening, the high jewelry "Acapulco Necklace" will be specially exhibited. Inspired by the blue seas and lush vegetation of Acapulco, this piece is adorned with 18 emeralds, totaling 45.66 carats, in a pear shape.

The top motif can be detached and worn as a clip, and its reverse side is meticulously detailed and beautifully finished.

Furthermore, until Wednesday, February 28, 2018, works by ikebana artist Katsuhiro Katagiri will beautifully adorn the store. Since its inception, flowers have been a source of inspiration for Van Cleef & Arpels. For this occasion, Katagiri has expressed a deep affection for "spring" using fresh flowers.

Regarding the opening, Alban Belloir, President of Van Cleef & Arpels Japan, commented, "We are delighted that Van Cleef & Arpels can open a new, three-floor flagship store in Osaka's Shinsaibashi. By articulating its unique style, history, and savoir-faire, the high jewelry maison will solidify its presence throughout the Kansai region and offer customers an exceptional experience."
