A Fusion of Refined Elegance and Watchmaking Prowess
Jaeger-LeCoultre's origins trace back to 1833 when Antoine LeCoultre, an accomplished inventor and self-taught watchmaker, established his first workshop in Le Sentier, Switzerland.
Eleven years after its founding, in 1844, Antoine LeCoultre discovered the micron. This discovery, made not by a physicist or engineer, but by a watchmaker, signifies the exceptional precision of Antoine's "Millionometer" and, more importantly, the perfect finishing of each component he crafted, assembled with absolute accuracy. This measuring device, the most accurate in the world at the time, served as a standard for over half a century, indicating that the foundation of Jaeger-LeCoultre's technical expertise was already firmly established.
Subsequently, the invention of the crown-winding mechanism, the world's smallest movement, and the world's thinnest caliber undoubtedly played significant roles in the development of modern wristwatches.
Time moved on, and Antoine's grandson, Jacques-David LeCoultre, met Edmond Jaeger. They collaborated on movement development, leading to the birth of Jaeger-LeCoultre in 1937.
The Vallée de Joux, located in the heart of Switzerland's Jura region, is renowned as a treasure trove of ultra-complicated timepieces. With nearly 200 years of watchmaking history in this area, LeCoultre is synonymous with such intricate creations.
Jaeger-LeCoultre elevates complex watchmaking into elegant artistry, earning the admiration of many women. At the upcoming Jaeger-LeCoultre fair at Isetan Shinjuku, from Wednesday, December 8th to Tuesday, January 11th, 2011, visitors can admire a collection of exquisite pieces, including the "Reverso Squadra Lady Jewellery" high jewelry model, which embodies the fusion of refined elegance and watchmaking reliability.
Furthermore, during the period from Wednesday, December 8th to Saturday, December 11th, a four-day jewelry setting demonstration will be conducted by a gem setter from the company's Swiss headquarters. This presents a rare opportunity to witness artistry of this caliber up close.
