A special pair of cufflinks has been born from a collaboration between fashion director Tomoki Sukezane and TASAKI. In this video, Katsuya Shinonaga, manager of TASAKI's Craftsmanship Department, and Sukezane discuss these cufflinks, which were conceived as part of an OPENERS project.

The Two Discuss the Collaboration: "The Making of the Spider Cufflinks"

The dialogue partner for Mr. Sukezane was Katsuya Shinonaga, manager of TASAKI's Craftsmanship Department. A master among TASAKI's artisans, he led the production of the spider cufflinks. The two spoke about the origins of this collaboration, as well as the manufacturing process, techniques, and design.

"The key point this time was to intentionally scratch and damage the pearls, rather than utilizing their luster. I felt that the shine of pearls was inherently feminine, and I had a slight resistance to it. So, I considered how to achieve elegance while retaining some of that luster. Also, I personally like cufflinks and often wear them. Many men wear rugged silver jewelry, but I'm not fond of that. However, these cufflinks have both a dangerous edge and a certain flair, and they pair perfectly with dress shirts," says Mr. Sukezane.
