Reverso Duo

Text by OPENERS

The Reverso, characterized by its reversible rectangular case, was developed as a dual-time model in the series, leading to the "Reverso Duo."

Utilizing the Reverso's unique structure, which allows the case to be flipped 180 degrees, it features dials not only on the front but also on the back. While these two dials display time coaxially through a single movement, a push-button allows for the adjustment of the hour hand of the second time zone. Consequently, by setting a time difference on each dial, one can quickly switch to a dial displaying a different time zone simply by reversing it, making it a groundbreaking dual-time watch.

Furthermore, despite its considerable convenience, a key feature is its slimness, kept to a mere 9.4mm. It achieves excellent practicality without compromising the Reverso's noble image.

The photograph on the right shows the back dial of the "Reverso Duo." With a 24-hour indicator at the 6 o'clock position, there is no risk of mistaking AM for PM.

Manual winding. 21,600 vibrations per hour. 45-hour power reserve. Case: 42.2mm length x 26mm width. Stainless steel case. Crocodile strap. 3 ATM water resistance. ¥955,500.

BRAND HISTORY

Among Swiss watchmaking, Jaeger-LeCoultre is one of the few brands that has consistently maintained its history as a manufacture brand since its inception. Its origins trace back to 1833, when Antoine LeCoultre opened a company that manufactured watch components. He made a living designing machine tools for watchmaking, and he successively invented useful machine tools that improved watch quality, greatly influencing the watch industry. He eventually began manufacturing movements himself.

In 1903, the watch workshop left by Antoine LeCoultre formed a business partnership with Edmond Jaeger, with whom they had a cooperative relationship through chronometer manufacturing. In 1937, the company name was changed to the current Jaeger-LeCoultre. During this period, they continued their development without pause, creating masterpieces such as the rectangular "Reverso."

Jaeger-LeCoultre, having developed a remarkable number of movements over the years, now solidifies its quality through a unique and rigorous 1000-hour testing system applied to all models. It continues to develop new mechanisms that surpass those of its competitors. As of 2007, it has established four major lines: the rectangular "Reverso," the round "Master Control," the "Master Compressor" with enhanced water resistance achieved through a unique compression key, and the "Duomètre," added in 2007.

Furthermore, in 2007, they unveiled the "Master Compressor Extreme LAB," which achieved complete maintenance-free operation, a long-held dream in the watchmaking world. Their relentless spirit of innovation continues to grow each year. Experts worldwide eagerly anticipate the new mechanisms developed by Jaeger-LeCoultre.
