The "Reverso" is arguably Jaeger-LeCoultre's most iconic model. Developed in 1931, it was created for polo, a major European sport that was popular among the upper classes at the time, and remains so to this day.

This equestrian sport, originating in Britain, also served as a social hub for gentlemen in colonial India. Players paid meticulous attention to their appearance, sporting their prized watches with flair even during athletic pursuits. However, it was also a demanding sport, with players fiercely competing for the ball while controlling their horses, which sometimes led to the watch's crystal being damaged during play.

Amidst this, a British officer who had actually broken his watch crystal approached a Swiss businessman, inquiring if a timepiece resistant to the rigors of the sport could be made. The result, conceived by the company commissioned by the businessman, was the "reversible case" – the Reverso's most distinctive feature. This was a groundbreaking mechanism for its time, allowing the case to be rotated 180 degrees to prevent the crystal from breaking during matches.

Furthermore, the elegant rectangular case is another hallmark of the Reverso. Its refined Art Deco design exudes an unparalleled sense of nobility, captivating gentlemen and ladies who favored sophisticated attire.

The "Reverso Classic" pictured here is the most basic model within the Reverso line. It continues to reign today as a quintessential timepiece that honors tradition and enhances a dapper wrist.
