The 42nd Kimura Ihei Photography Award Goes to Mikiko Hara; Exhibitions to be Held in Tokyo and Osaka
Mikiko Hara has been selected as the recipient of the 42nd Kimura Ihei Photography Award (2016).
Hara was born in Toyama Prefecture in 1967.
She graduated from Keio University's Faculty of Letters in 1990 and completed the postgraduate program at Tokyo College of Photography in 1996.
Her first solo exhibition, "Is As It," was held in 1996, and since then she has presented her work in numerous group and solo exhibitions both domestically and internationally.
In 2007, she held a solo exhibition titled "Blind Letter" in New York.
Her active career includes participation in "In Focus: Tokyo," an exhibition of four Japanese photographers held at the Getty Center in Los Angeles in 2014, alongside Masao Masao, Daido Moriyama, and Masato Seto.
To commemorate her award, exhibitions of her work will be held at the Shinjuku Nikon Salon in Tokyo from April 11 (Tue) to April 24 (Mon), and at the Osaka Nikon Salon from May 4 (Thu) to May 10 (Wed).
