Philippines Achieves Double Win at World Travel Awards Asia 2020 — Department of Tourism Also Wins Leading Tourist Board Award —
The Philippines achieved a double win at the 27th World Travel Awards Asia, securing both the "Asia’s Leading Beach Destination" and "Asia’s Leading Diving Destination" awards for 2020.
Concurrently, the Philippine Department of Tourism also received the top honor for Asia's leading tourist board, "Asia’s Leading Tourist Board," outperforming the 11 nominated countries.
This marks the Philippines' fourth win for "Asia’s Leading Beach Destination" and second for "Asia’s Leading Diving Destination," while the department's "Asia’s Leading Tourist Board" award is also its second.
The Philippine Department of Tourism has expressed its support for the gradual reopening of various tourist destinations across the country, prioritizing health and safety. Strict safety protocols are in place at reopened sites such as Baguio, Boracay Island, El Nido, Ilocos Norte, and several diving spots in Batangas, catering to local tourists.
