A retreat of music and hot springs. Enjoy the "Sound of Selene" music festival in Uunazuki Onsen, Toyama, combined with an overnight stay.

Established in 1923, Uunazuki Onsen, a historic hot spring town in Kurobe City, will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2023. A special accommodation plan has been set for the "Sound of Selene" event, held on June 18, 2022.

"Sound of Selene" is a new series of events designed to illuminate the potential of Kurobe City Arts Creation Center Selene. It invites two carefully selected musicians to perform, centered around the theme of harmony with nature. As suggested by the center's logo, which depicts overlapping egg shapes, the event is conceived with the image of two musical performances resonating with each other, breaking free from their shells to give birth to sound.

The artists for this inaugural year are Yuko Ando, whose singing, at times a whisper, at times a cry, powerfully moves the listener with her uniquely chosen words, and Kan Sano, a leading figure in beat music who also draws audiences into his world with improvisational piano performances in a unique style that fuses jazz and classical music.

This year, a special plan is available that allows you to enjoy Uunazuki Onsen along with the live performance. Take this opportunity to visit Uunazuki Onsen in Toyama, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2023.

Uunazuki Onsenkyo, located at the gateway to the Kurobe Gorge, is the largest hot spring resort in Toyama Prefecture, with a capacity of approximately 3,500 guests. Since its opening in 1923, drawing water from the Kurokura River, it has been cherished by many writers and artists. Its waters, said to be the clearest in Japan, are a colorless, transparent, weakly alkaline simple hot spring that is gentle on the skin, reminiscent of the clear Kurobe River. The source temperature is around 90 degrees Celsius, providing deep warmth. From the inns and hotels lining the Kurobe River, guests can enjoy views of the gorge's mountains, which display their changing beauty with each season.

Around Uunazuki Onsen Station, you'll find facilities to enjoy the hot springs, including foot baths, day-use onsen, hotels, and traditional inns. After enjoying the live performance, why not experience Uunazuki Onsen, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2023?
