A "Depachika-style Strawberry Salad" created by popular culinary researcher Chinami Hamauchi is available for a limited time until Sunday, February 27th at Nara Mahoroba-kan.
February is the month of strawberries, but a "strawberry salad" is a rare treat.
Nara Mahoroba-kan, Nara's brand shop, will be offering a limited-time "Depachika-style Strawberry Salad" created by popular culinary researcher Chinami Hamauchi at its 1st-floor cafe & bar from Sunday, February 13th to Sunday, February 27th. This salad was one of the dishes demonstrated by Chinami Hamauchi and AKB48 member Momoka Onishi at the "Nara's Red Jewel! Strawberry Love Cooking Fair," an event promoting Nara's charms held on Sunday, February 13th. Notably, it uses "Kotoka," a precious strawberry variety cultivated exclusively in Nara Prefecture.
Salad Featuring "Kotoka," a Rare Strawberry Grown Only in Nara
The "Depachika-style Strawberry Salad" is a unique potato salad made with potatoes, snap peas, and strawberries, seasoned with condensed milk, fresh cream, mayonnaise, salt, and black pepper. According to Hamauchi, "Kotoka," which combines sweetness and acidity—two of the fundamental tastes in cooking—is an easy-to-use ingredient, making this unique salad a recommended choice. We hope you enjoy this seasonal salad featuring "Kotoka," a Nara strawberry rarely found in Tokyo.
