Confirmed: Artist-Led Art Fair "ARTISTS’ FAIR KYOTO 2020" to Take Place
The decision has been made to hold "ARTISTS' FAIR KYOTO 2020," an event showcasing contemporary art in the historic city of Kyoto. This fair, which transcends the conventional art fair framework by having artists manage everything from planning to exhibition, has been well-received as a venue for fostering communication between visitors and artists. With each iteration, it has gained momentum, and 2020 marks its third year.
Kohei Nawa, Chiharu Shiota, and Izumi Kato Participate as Advisory Board. Over 60 Emerging Artists Featured at Popular Art Fair, the Highest Number Yet.
In 2020, under the theme "Singularity of Art," the fair will again be directed by Nobuo Tsuji, with an advisory board of 19 leading artists, including Kohei Nawa, Chiharu Shiota, and Izumi Kato, who will recommend emerging artists.
A total of 62 artists will exhibit, the highest number to date (as of October 15, 2019), including 49 emerging artists selected through public recruitment and curations from diverse perspectives. Works employing a wide range of techniques, from painting to technology-driven installations, will be gathered in one place. Another highlight of the fair, which has garnered popularity, is the opportunity to appreciate contemporary art within Kyoto's unique, atmospheric venues transformed into eccentric exhibition spaces.
Through "ARTISTS' FAIR KYOTO 2020," we aim to foster a culture of art acquisition that is more accessible, thereby nurturing a space where the next generation of artists can creatively disseminate culture and art.
