Featuring acclaimed artists Yuko Ando and Kan Sano! The "Sound of Selene" music festival will be held in Uunazuki Onsen, Toyama, overlooking the Kurobe Gorge.

Kurobe City Art Creation Center Selene (hereinafter referred to as Selene) will host "Sound of Selene" on Saturday, June 18, 2022.
"Sound of Selene" was born as a series of events designed to shed light on Selene's new potential, inviting two carefully selected musicians with the theme of harmony with nature, for a special experience. As depicted in Selene's logo, the concept is for the music of two artists to resonate, like overlapping eggs, and break free from their shells to give birth, mirroring the building's form of stacked eggs.

This year's inaugural artists are Yuko Ando, whose songs, sung with a unique sensibility, sometimes whispered, sometimes shouted, deeply move the listener's heart, and Kan Sano, a leading figure in beat music who also performs improvisational piano in a unique style that fuses jazz and classical music, drawing listeners into his world.

Tickets offer discounts for the museum and cafe adjacent to Selene. Additionally, options that can be enjoyed in combination with accommodation will be available on a special website from early May. Ticket sales begin on May 1st via Ticket Pia and Arts Navi. After enjoying the music, why not consider a weekend retreat combining hot springs and music in Unazuki Onsen, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2023?

■ About Unazuki Onsen
Unazuki Onsen, located at the gateway to the Kurobe Gorge, is the largest hot spring resort in Toyama Prefecture, with a capacity of approximately 3,500 guests. Fed by water drawn from Kuronagi in the upper reaches of the Kurobe River, it has a history dating back to its opening in 1923 (Taisho 12) and has been cherished by many literary figures and artists. Its weakly alkaline simple hot spring water, said to be the clearest in Japan and reminiscent of the Kurobe River's pristine flow, is gentle on the skin. With a source temperature of around 90 degrees Celsius, it warms the body thoroughly. The inns and hotels lining the Kurobe River offer views of the gorge's mountains, which display different facets with each season. Around Unazuki Onsen Station, facilities such as foot baths, day-use hot springs, hotels, and inns allow visitors to enjoy Unazuki Onsen. The Kurobe Unazuki Onsen Tourism Association website provides information on accommodation, day-use hot springs, and various other attractions in Kurobe.
