Tokyo Shirts Opens a Tiny 5-Tsubo Store in Front of Shimbashi Station, Enabling Hands-Free Shopping with NFC Tags

Tokyo Shirt, a shirt specialty chain operating approximately 190 stores nationwide, including BRICK HOUSE BY TOKYO SHIRTS, opened its "TOKYO SHIRTS Wing Shinbashi Store" in Wing Shinbashi on September 25.

The newly opened "TOKYO SHIRTS Wing Shinbashi Store" is located directly in front of the JR Shiodome ticket gate and is the smallest store in the shirt specialty industry, measuring less than 5 tsubo. The store exclusively carries men's items and offers about half the variety of products found in regular stores.

The new store introduces NFC tag technology for product selection, a first in the apparel industry. By linking with the e-commerce site, it realizes a new, comfortable shopping experience aligned with the concept of "allowing customers to put store items into their smartphones and take them home."

In-store products are equipped with NFC tags. Touching a tag transfers information, allowing customers to be directed to the product purchase page simply by holding their smartphone near the NFC tag of an item they are interested in. Even if they don't purchase it on the spot, they can save the search results to their phone for later purchase at home. *NFC Tag: A short-range communication standard similar to transportation IC cards.

Furthermore, on the same day, Tokyo Shirt launched "FLAT PACK," a new product optimized for compactness, ideal for business trips.

At the time of sale, only the collar support is used as packaging material, with the rest of the shirt compressed and packed. The compression pack features a zipper, allowing it to be reused for business trips and other occasions after opening.

Tokyo Shirt was founded as a shirt manufacturer in 1949. Leveraging its manufacturing prowess, which has produced innovations such as wrinkle-resistant 100% cotton shirts that revolutionized the market, and shirts with integrated inner layers (product name: Inner Fit Shirt), the company aims to become the world's No. 1 specialty chain in the shirt sector.
