Theme: Democratic Experiment(s)

For this, the 10th iteration, we welcome Asa Ito, Director of the Center for Human-Nature Interaction, Institute of Innovative Research, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Professor at the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and a visiting researcher at MIT (2019), as head judge. The judging panel also includes Yuna Tsukada, Representative Director of Whole Universe Inc., editor, and curator; Fiona de Bell and Roel Schoenmakers, co-representatives of the artist network Cascoland; and DJ and Nyege Nyege collective member Kampire Bahana. Submissions are invited from around the world under the theme "Democratic experiment(s)."

Additionally, a special "Panasonic Award," sponsored by Panasonic Corporation, is available for simultaneous entry. The judging panel for this award includes Tatsuo Ogawa, Executive Officer, CTO at Panasonic Corporation; Ariane Koek, Creative Director; and Chiaki Hayashi, Co-founder and Chairman of Loftwork Inc. This award seeks works that improve society and daily life, following the same "Democratic experiment(s)" theme as "YouFab 2021."

Selected works for "YouFab 2021" will receive awards and be exhibited at the Panasonic Center Tokyo in March 2022. The winner of the special "Panasonic Award" will receive prize money and a bonus, as well as the opportunity for permanent display at AkeruE, the Panasonic Creative Museum located within the same facility.
