With judges including Naoto Fukasawa, Makoto Tanijiri, Ai Yoshida, and Takahiro Shibata, the "HIROSHIMA DESIGN CHALLENGE 2021" seeks design partners to bring Hiroshima-born design to the world.

Hiroshima Prefecture is hosting "HIROSHIMA DESIGN CHALLENGE 2021," a project that invites businesses within the prefecture to proactively utilize "design" with the theme of "design that makes the city a piece." The challenge encourages them to collaborate with creators to develop spaces and installations. Applications for design partners are open until Sunday, May 30, 2021.

The project's theme is "design that makes the city a piece." Hiroshima Prefecture is recognized globally as a center of peace, having achieved recovery from the devastating impact of the atomic bombing. In considering Hiroshima design, the keyword "peace" is considered an indispensable element, interpreted as "piece" (part/component) and "peace" (tranquility). This forms the core of the theme, driving the development of urban spaces and installations through design.

The judging panel is chaired by designer Naoto Fukasawa. Architects Makoto Tanijiri and Ai Yoshida (SUPPOSE DESIGN OFFICE), and editor Takahiro Shibata are among the judges.

Online events offering direct consultation with businesses will be held on Tuesday, May 18, and Wednesday, May 19. For details and to apply, please visit the official website of AWRD, the co-creation platform managed by Loftwork, which is handling the project operations.
