Three days to foster encounters between traditional crafts and cutting-edge technology. "Craft Hackathon 2018"

The "Craft Hackathon," held in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture, as part of the "International Hokuriku Crafts Summit" in 2017.
This year, from Friday, November 30th to Sunday, December 2nd, an exhibition showcasing project presentations, talk events, and workshops will be held at EDGEof, a game-changer studio in Shibuya.

Installations using lacquerware, products integrating IoT with traditional crafts, works created through collaboration between AI and artisans, and new systems for skill inheritance utilizing engineering.
Set in Takaoka City, a place that has inherited the techniques and spirit of metal and lacquer crafts for over 400 years, seven projects were born from teams formed by local traditional industry artisans and craftspeople, alongside engineers, researchers, and artists from diverse fields. These endeavors did not end as mere ideas; their development continues today.

This event will introduce the outcomes of those projects through exhibitions and talk sessions, exploring the potential for innovation in Japanese culture and industry through the fusion of craftsmanship and technology. During the event, workshops will also be held where artisans will teach traditional Takaoka City techniques (raden lacquerware and metal casting). Check the official website for details.
