DURESTA, a sofa brand that supplies sofas to the British Royal Family, adds two new models to meet the needs of a new generation!

IDC Otsuka Kagu began selling the latest models from DURESTA, the pinnacle of British sofa brands, on Saturday, June 2nd. DURESTA has long been favored by the British Royal Family, and recently supplied sofas to Windsor Castle for the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on May 19th.

Founded in 1938, DURESTA is the foremost British sofa brand, continuing to craft historically styled upholstered furniture through traditional artisanal craftsmanship. Their style, reflecting a distinctly British respect for tradition and prestige, includes officially recognized National Trust models and is used in British embassies worldwide. The brand is cherished by numerous celebrities and holds a high reputation.

The frames are made from carefully selected solid hardwood, ensuring durability for long-term use. The internal spring configuration varies by model, achieving optimal seating comfort for each design. Furthermore, most of the textiles used by DURESTA are original designs, developed in-house, with new textiles introduced to meet the needs of each era. Thus, DURESTA offers sofas of a unique style, meticulously finished down to the smallest detail, by merging select materials with traditional craftsmanship. In 2016, they launched a collection with fashion designer Matthew Williamson, actively developing new collections for younger generations and evolving needs while preserving tradition.

The company is now introducing two new models from the "DOMUS" collection, launched in 2013 to commemorate DURESTA's 75th anniversary. These are aimed at a younger demographic, including young executives, who differ from DURESTA's traditional customer base.

The new models, "MERIDIAN" and "METROPOLITAN," maintain the same internal structure and are produced in the same factory and on the same lines as previous models, preserving DURESTA's signature quality. However, through innovative use of frame and spring components and streamlined production processes, they achieve a lower price point, with three-seater sofas available in the 400,000 yen range, compared to the 800,000 to 1,500,000 yen range for traditional models.
