Sleep Pods Over 200cm Long, 58cm Wide at the Shoulder

Air New Zealand has introduced a groundbreaking prototype for its economy class: the "SkyNest."
Developed over three years, the "SkyNest" consists of six sleep pods, each over 200cm long, capable of accommodating the entire body. Each pod is equipped with a seatbelt, a full-sized pillow, sheets, and a blanket, along with privacy curtains and lighting designed for sleep. The introduction of individual reading lights and USB outlets for devices is also under consideration.
Air New Zealand commented, "For our economy class customers on long-haul flights, the inability to stretch out is a clear source of discomfort. The development of SkyNest is a direct response to this challenge."
The airline envisions that customers booking long-haul flights will be able to reserve a "SkyNest" in addition to their own seat, allowing for high-quality rest and ensuring they arrive at their destination feeling fully refreshed.
The "SkyNest" is being considered for trial implementation on long-haul routes, such as the approximately 17-hour Auckland-New York service launching this year. Licensing to other airlines is also being explored. Its introduction is likely to expand options for comfortable air travel.
