Enjoying Four Pools and Direct Beach Access!
Tsuchida“The venue for the night pool is the Sunset Pool in the new ‘Bay Wing’ area, which was completed in July 2020. That’s why the atmosphere is so modern, like a resort overseas. It feels brand new, unlike the familiar feel of older establishments.”
Hasegawa“That’s right! In July 2020, ANA InterContinental Ishigaki Resort newly established the ‘Bay Wing’ and ‘Club InterContinental.’ The resort, spanning approximately 6 times the area of Tokyo Dome (total area 31 hectares), now has 5 buildings and 458 rooms. The flexibility to choose buildings and rooms according to travel style and budget is crucial for a resort. And for us adults, we decided to go for a stay in the newly opened ‘Club Wing’!”
We'll say it again because it's important: the 'Club Wing.' The entire building is dedicated to the Club InterContinental category (86 rooms). We absolutely had to experience this (laughs).
The room size in the Club Wing is a spacious 43.2㎡, even for non-suite rooms. There's a movable door separating the bathroom and sleeping area. All rooms have ocean views.
All rooms offer ocean views. You can see the Ishigaki Island cityscape beyond the golf course. Lounging on the daybed is also wonderful!
The Ishigaki-yaki teacups are a thoughtful touch.
Wine glasses are also provided, of course. You won't lack anything for your relaxing time in the room.
Tsuchida“So, the entire building is for guests with lounge access… Naturally, the atmosphere is overwhelmingly luxurious. And in the morning, afternoon, and evening, delicious items are served for free in the Club Lounge. Hasegawa-san, you were drinking champagne here too.”
Hasegawa“I was drinking, what about it? (laughs)? The champagne at the evening cocktail in the Club Lounge is a matter of etiquette, isn't it? Though I'm not sure what etiquette it is (laughs). But they also have original cocktails you can only drink here, and canapés using Okinawan ingredients like ‘Stir-fried Chinese-style Island Vegetables with Aromatic Spices’ and ‘Fresh Fish Tartare with Sea Grapes,’ which were so elaborate. I honestly wanted the Club Lounge to be my permanent residence!”
Tsuchida“The items on the afternoon tea stand in the afternoon were also elaborate, worthy of a separate charge. The savories were filling enough that I felt satisfied just with the lounge offerings. But this hotel actually has delicious food. The main dining restaurant, ‘SALTIDA,’ also had a half-buffet, and all the buffet dishes were hits. I could feel the chef's dedication to hospitality.”

Hasegawa“Executive Chef Eiji Ohata has had a career at luxury hotels like Mandarin Oriental Tokyo and Aman Tokyo. He doesn't compromise on even the smallest details! The breakfast at the Club Lounge was also diverse. The juicy and hearty miso soup was a soothing balm for my body, still recovering from the previous night's awamori (laughs).”
Tsuchida“It really made me realize how important the human element is in a hotel. And the Club Wing, of course! It’s a world apart, even within InterContinental.”
Club Wing Exclusive Pool
Hasegawa“The rooms are sparkling new, and I also fell in love with the pool exclusively for Club Wing guests! The bottom is made of blue glass, and it sparkles brilliantly in the sunlight! It really lifts your spirits.”
Tsuchida“It’s an infinity design where the pool water seems to spill out towards the golf course. The interplay of green and blue is exceptionally beautiful.”
Hasegawa“In total, ANA InterContinental Ishigaki Resort has four pools. One of them is an indoor pool, so you can enjoy it even on winter or rainy days. There was also a pool with a water slide. And the easy access to the beach is another great point.”
Tsuchida“Maesato Beach is right in front of the ‘Bay Wing.’ Hotel guests can also borrow beach umbrellas and towels for free.”
Hasegawa“Some places charge guests for umbrellas, but it’s great that they don’t do such stingy things!”
Tsuchida“‘Understated luxury’ is a keyword for InterContinental Hotels, and I suppose this refers to this kind of excellent hospitality. It’s wonderful.”
Hasegawa“The hotel is large and divided into several buildings, but when moving between them, they quickly take you in a club-exclusive cart, so there was no stress at all!”
Tsuchida“So, it’s a miraculous combination of the scale benefits of an international brand and the attentive service of a club lounge. Okinawa is experiencing a boom in new hotels, but this level of usability might set it apart.”
Hasegawa“I agree, I agree. If someone asks me for a hotel recommendation in Okinawa, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this one. It’s great for couples, families, or even solo travelers. I just got back, but I already want to go again (laughs). Maybe next time, as a memento for my mother, I’ll take her.”
To create these cocktails, ANA InterContinental Ishigaki Resort collaborated with "KOPPARI," a company that introduced special freezing equipment to help save Ishigaki Island's fruits, which had nowhere to go during the pandemic. KOPPARI delivers additive-free, fresh frozen fruits within and outside the prefecture. This time, the lineup includes pineapple, mango, and papaya.
Tsuchida“You want to drink that new champagne cocktail again, don't you? You dissolve an ice pop into champagne. This style is also trending in Tokyo right now, and the 100% fruit juice pops were delicious.”
Hasegawa“You caught me? I couldn't try all three types of ‘Ishigaki Poptails,’ you see. The story behind the ice pops, made with local fruits and being sustainable, is also wonderful.”
Tsuchida“The trip can be completed entirely within the hotel, offering safety and security, and a feeling of being at an overseas resort. It’s perfect as a travel style during the pandemic, and above all, I think heading to Ishigaki Island this year to enjoy the Perrier-Jouët ‘Night Pool’ is absolutely the right choice.”
Hasegawa“Right? This is the first time I feel like I've truly enjoyed a ‘Night Pool’ from the bottom of my heart! I never knew ‘Night Pools’ could be this fun…”
