TRAVEL|BEB5 Karuizawa
Now is the time for a workation. Work, soak in the hot springs, and after you've found your zen, indulge in gourmet food!
“BEB” is HOSHINO RESORTS' casual hotel brand. You might think it's aimed at young people, but that's far from the truth! This hotel is a wonderful place that adults can fully enjoy. In particular, at BEB5 Karuizawa, located in the heart of Karuizawa, HOSHINO RESORTS' home base, you can stay affordably while enjoying the luxurious content of the Karuizawa Hoshino Area without needing a car. The “Unlimited access to Tombo-no-yu hot springs plan,” available in February and March 2022, is especially a great deal.

Still plenty of time. From ¥8,400 per night (per person, double occupancy), excluding weekends and holidays.
BEB5 Karuizawa will offer an unlimited access plan for Hoshino Onsen Tombo-no-yu from February to March 2022. While the usual visitor fee is ¥1,350 for adults and ¥600 for BEB guests, this plan allows unlimited entry for a fixed price. Tombo-no-yu is just a 10-minute walk from the hotel, making it a precious opportunity to enjoy the hot springs as often as you wish.
Junta Baba, General Manager of BEB5 Karuizawa
“Winter is the best season to enjoy Karuizawa's crisp air. And the sauna at Hoshino Onsen is famous for its incredibly cold water bath, which helps you achieve a state of deep relaxation,” says Junta Baba, General Manager of BEB5 Karuizawa. Karuizawa's winter temperatures drop to around 0°C, so the water bath is refreshingly cold. He explains that they wanted to promote this excellent environment, which is why they prepared this event for this particular season.

For all you sauna enthusiasts out there, this is an experience you can't miss. I must admit, I too love the sauna at Hoshino Onsen and visit from Tokyo several times a year just for it. The crisp Karuizawa air creates a wonderful atmosphere for relaxation.
Part of the communal space "TAMARIBA," which can also be used as a workation desk. It's a space where you can concentrate like in a cafe, and work gets done efficiently.
Two power outlets at each seat. You can charge your smartphone while using your PC.
This is the overall atmosphere of "TAMARIBA." Although it's an open space, it's comfortable, and you can share the space while maintaining an appropriate distance from others.

This is a prime spot: an outdoor kotatsu (heated table) for enjoying the crisp Karuizawa air while keeping your head cool and feet warm.
Regarding workations, "BEB" offers "TAMARIBA," an open communal space on the first floor, available 24 hours a day for guests. A portion of this space can be used as a work desk, equipped with WiFi, power outlets, and acrylic partitions for infection control. Coffee is available for purchase at any time.

Yagura Room
Let me introduce the rooms. BEB offers two room types: the Yagura Room and the Twin Room. Both rooms are 19 square meters. The Yagura Room features a large bunk bed, dividing the space vertically into a sleeping area and a living area. The Twin Room, on the other hand, is a standard type with two beds in one room. Both rooms have tatami flooring and require shoes to be removed at the entrance. The bathroom and toilet are separate, and the bath has a large bathtub deep enough to soak up to your shoulders.
Unlike the HOSHINOYA brand, we won't claim the rooms are spacious, but they are indeed user-friendly and perfectly adequate. Unlike typical business hotels, these rooms are designed with ingenuity. While not exactly luxurious, the stylish design incorporating Japanese elements is characteristic of HOSHINO RESORTS, creating a pleasant space.
Left: Chef's select deli (¥1,750), Quiche of the day (from ¥650). Both from "Circus" at Harunire Terrace. Right: "TAMARIBA" offers red and white wines by the gram. At ¥4 per gram, a glass costs around ¥500. This Italian wine has a light, refreshing taste. Various craft beers are also available. So you don't have to worry if you finish your own drinks early!
Furthermore, "BEB" warmly welcomes guests to bring their own food and drinks. You can enjoy your purchases freely in your room or in the communal space "TAMARIBA." There are no time restrictions, as it's available 24 hours a day. This is likely why "BEB" is described as "more than a pub, less than a trip." You can enjoy yourselves all night with family and friends without worrying about the time to return home. Of course, this is all done with consideration for infection prevention measures.
This naturally makes us curious about "Harunire Terrace," which is packed with gourmet dining options in the Hoshino Area.
Circus Wine & Deli Karuizawa Address: 2148 Nagakura, Karuizawa-machi, Kitasaku-gun, Nagano Prefecture, Harunire Terrace Phone: 0267-31-0361 Hours: 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM (hours may vary by season)
At "Circus," you'll find a wide selection of natural wines and brasserie items like charcuterie and cheese. The owner sommelier has curated approximately 300 bottles from Japan and abroad, offering everything from everyday wines to special occasion bottles. We highly recommend the rare bottles from wineries in the Toumi region of Nagano, which are not widely available elsewhere. Bring them back to "BEB" with confidence.

At "Villager Dining Hall," a casual restaurant in the Hoshino Area, the "Abundant Mushroom Yudofu Soba" for ¥1,980 is very popular. This dish recreates a dining style from the Matsumoto region, where soba noodles are added to a pot. Among the plentiful mushrooms, the yellow Tamogi-dake stands out. Despite being simple ingredients, it's a very satisfying meal. By the way, there are five types of hot pot dishes alone. You won't get tired of them even if you eat them every day!?
