Captivated by a Jewelry-Like Nightscape!

Last time, I introduced a resort hotel in LA, but LA is so vast that its charms vary greatly by area. I always make it a point to enjoy LA by exploring downtown and one other area each visit. This time, I'll introduce a hotel in downtown where you can truly feel the "big city LA" vibe. I'm particularly fond of the InterContinental Downtown Los Angeles for its stunning views overlooking the entire city. It's a place that offers such a magnificent panorama, it might even lead to the wildly ambitious fantasy of thinking, "All of LA is mine!!"

This time, I'll introduce a hotel in downtown where you can truly feel the "big city LA" vibe. I'm particularly fond of the InterContinental Downtown Los Angeles for its stunning views overlooking the entire city. It's a place that offers such a magnificent panorama, it might even lead to the wildly ambitious fantasy of thinking, "All of LA is mine!!"

Opened in 2017 in downtown LA, the InterContinental Downtown Los Angeles is housed within a building said to be the tallest on the West Coast of the United States, standing at 73 stories. The sky lobby, where the reception is located, is on the 71st floor, welcoming guests with a breathtaking 360-degree view. You can even spot the famous Hollywood Sign with the naked eye, which is a great way to truly feel, "Ah, I've arrived in LA."





While the large windows offer ample opportunity to enjoy the LA scenery, the rooms themselves also boast spectacular views. You can gaze out at the cityscape from your room, and on clear days, not only the night view but also the sunrise from your room is absolutely divine. The LA sunrise is a vibrant pink, enveloping the entire city in a beautiful hue. I highly recommend securing a room with a view when booking.

As expected from a hotel with a global presence like the InterContinental, the rooms are incredibly functional. While design hotels are becoming more common in LA, the reliable quality and ease of use are significant factors that make me want to return.

From Cocktails to Dinner, Impeccable Escort

The hotel's main draw is undoubtedly the view from its upper floors, above 70 stories (of course, the hotel's quality in terms of service and other aspects is first-class!). You can enjoy a jewelry-like nightscape from your pre-dinner aperitif to dinner and even during cocktail hour after your meal. It's the kind of place that sparks romantic date fantasies, isn't it? This hotel boasts wonderful restaurants and bars perfect for such occasions.

The steakhouse "LA BOUCHELIE" has special booths recommended for couples. These window-side booths are romantically designed for two to sit side-by-side and enjoy the night view, making it ideal for dates. These seats are a must-book! I wish I could go on a date here myself.




For someone like me who craves Japanese food, the hotel also offers excellent Japanese cuisine. "Sora" has counter seats facing the night view, so why not enjoy a different dish each day while savoring the spectacular scenery, even if you're staying for several days?





As for me, a lover of spirits, my absolute favorite is the rooftop bar "SPIRE 73" on the 73rd floor. In Japan, due to legal restrictions, it's quite difficult to find rooftop bars, but LA seems to have them everywhere! And with its consistently warm climate year-round, drinking outdoors is such a pleasure! The view from the 73rd floor is truly magnificent. To be intoxicated by expertly crafted cocktails in such a setting is simply divine. I love that this bar is spacious and has a bar counter. You can have a lively time with a group, or sit side-by-side with someone special at the counter and enjoy a drink – women adore these kinds of settings! You can see why I keep coming back!
