Exploring Adult Love Through New Forms of Expression
Miyuki Matsuda, an actress celebrated for her diverse roles in film, drama, and stage, joins forces with Sergei Semenov, a celebrated chansonnier with a devoted following among artists and cultural figures. Together, they form the creative unit "S et M" (Ess et Em), launching their collaborative endeavors.
Their first project is the "Cinematic Live Show," conceived by the duo and brought to life through collaborations with a film director and musicians. This experimental stage production defies easy categorization—it is neither a musical performance nor a theatrical play. Described as a fresh take on a classic concept, it promises a sophisticated experience akin to watching a French film.
A small star in this universe, Earth. A city on Earth, Paris. A café bar in Paris. There, a man and a woman meet. They walk the streets with joy, share their love on park benches, embrace happiness, and eventually, the time for parting arrives. Then, separated, they long for their beloved from afar. Meeting and parting, chasing and overtaking, entwined like a whirlwind. Life is sweet, sad, and beautiful. This is a story of encounters and farewells, abundant in this world, told through song, beautiful words, visuals, and music. An ordinary, yet precious, story of someone and someone else. A story of adult love. It is surely your story. All is the boundless universe. Events on a revolving star.
Joining "S et M" for this production are film director Kōkai Hayashi, known for the "Tantei Himself Mike" series, and musician ASA-CHANG, founder of Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra. Their visuals and music, combined with live performances, chansons, original songs, poetry, and words from the cast, will create a unique world.

Regarding the performance, Miyuki Matsuda commented: "I wanted to do something new! I wanted to give chansons a three-dimensional form with a structure never seen before! That's how the Cinematic Live Show began. Experimentation always makes me nervous! When 'film, chanson, words, and music' blend together, perhaps they can cast a spell? Life is a drama. I want you to come and see an omnibus drama of love!"
Sergei Semenov stated: "I am deeply honored to create this work with Miyuki Matsuda, an artist I deeply respect. I am also personally excited to see what kind of world we can weave together through collaborations with Director Kōkai Hayashi and ASA-CHANG. We want to deliver a story of adult love with all our hearts. I look forward to seeing you all at the theater!"
