Born from the concept of a "musical clash of titans," the documentary "BOYCOTT RHYTHM MACHINE II VERSUS" was released in 2006 to widespread critical acclaim. On March 21st (Wednesday), at Korakuen Hall, Ryuichi Sakamoto vs. Yoshihide Otomo, and DJ KENTARO vs. Open Reel Ensemble will face off in an improvisational battle!

Held as live versions in 2009 and 2010, and most recently in December last year within the hallowed halls of the National Museum of Nature and Science, the "BOYCOTT RHYTHM MACHINE VERSUS LIVE" event has showcased three intense showdowns.
The 2012 iteration, "BOYCOTT RHYTHM MACHINE VERSUS LIVE 2012," brings together Japan's most celebrated artists on a central stage at Korakuen Hall, a venue known as the "mecca of martial arts," which will host a live event for the first time in over two decades. They will engage in improvisational musical battles with no prior rehearsal.

＜What is the BOYCOTT RHYTHM MACHINE Project?＞
In 2004, the project gained attention with the release of the all-new compilation album "BOYCOTT RHYTHM MACHINE," which captured the burgeoning alternative jazz scene centered around artists like DCPRG, Shibusa Shirazu, and ROVO. In 2006, "BOYCOTT RHYTHM MACHINE II VERSUS," a documentary project, was released. It featured key figures from the jazz scene collaborating with top musicians from diverse genres, tasked with creating original works through improvisation on the same day they first met. The "versus" concept of improvisational battles was revived in a live format in 2009. The live events were held at SUPER DELUXE in 2009 and at the National Museum of Nature and Science in 2010.
