Performing 20 Songs Written by Serge Gainsbourg for Birkin

Since the Great East Japan Earthquake, Jane Birkin has shown her support for Japan through messages and recovery concerts. During her emergency visit on April 6th, she performed with Japanese artists including Nobuyuki Nakajima (piano), Asuka Kaneko (violin), Shuichiro Sakaguchi (trumpet, trombone), and Tsutomu Kurihara (drums).



This collaboration has led to the formation of the “Jane Band” with these four musicians, and they are set to embark on a North American tour. Before heading to the US, a one-night-only concert for her Japanese fans will be held.

The program features 20 songs selected from the 78 tracks that Serge Gainsbourg, Birkin’s beloved partner and whose 20th anniversary of passing is this year, wrote for her. The arrangements were handled by bandmaster Nobuyuki Nakajima.
