Carl Casper, the executive chef at a renowned Los Angeles restaurant, finds himself at a critical juncture in his life after a particular incident. His career, once unquestioned, is tarnished, and he faces a significant crossroads as an individual. Forced to leave the restaurant, he grapples with issues in both his professional and personal life. Unable to find new work easily, he also struggles to connect with his 10-year-old son, Percy, who lives with his ex-wife.

Amidst this, he discovers the exquisite Cuban sandwich in his ex-wife's hometown of Miami and dedicates himself to crafting the ultimate sandwich. He then embarks on a culinary journey in a food truck, accompanied by his son during summer vacation.
