MASAI Medical, which develops and operates services such as health consultation services and online consultation apps, launched "MedLab" on May 15, 2020 (Friday). MedLab is a service specializing in the novel coronavirus infection, offering online doctor consultations and at-home PCR testing (conducted under remote doctor guidance).

On April 15, 2020 (Wednesday), MASAI Medical launched "Chekmed," an online health consultation service with doctors specializing in the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). The service has already been utilized by many individuals, companies, and local governments. This service offers a free self-check tool to detect IgG and IgM antibodies in the blood, which appear during a novel coronavirus infection. As the number of users testing positive gradually increased, the company has become increasingly concerned about the spread of the novel coronavirus infection within Japan.

Meanwhile, calls for expanded PCR testing are also growing. However, medical resources are strained, and currently, it is not possible to test everyone who exhibits symptoms suggestive of the novel coronavirus infection. In this context, to provide an environment where those who need testing can receive it quickly, those diagnosed and recuperating at home, and healthcare professionals fighting the daily risk and anxiety of infection can receive PCR testing safely and easily without the risk of secondary infection, and to deliver "medical eyes, ears, and heart" to all those exposed to the threat of the novel coronavirus infection, the "MedLab" medical service was launched. This service provides online doctor consultations and PCR testing by collecting samples at home under remote doctor guidance.

This service allows patients to consult with a doctor from home without the need for a hospital visit, using text or video chat. Furthermore, by performing self-collection of samples for PCR testing while receiving real-time remote medical guidance from a doctor, and then shipping the samples, test results can be obtained within approximately 1 to 3 days of the sample's arrival. Based on the test results, a medical certificate can be issued if necessary, referral to designated infectious disease medical institutions can be arranged, and remote medical management and health support during home recovery can be provided through one month of online consultations.

Furthermore, by combining the "Chekmed" antibody testing service with "MedLab," users can seamlessly transition from health consultations to medical examinations. The physical information and health status of service users are shared between both services and utilized as effective and highly accurate medical information during online consultations. By performing both "antibody checks = confirmation of immunity maintenance" and "PCR testing = confirmation of infection," it is now possible to more accurately assess the presence or absence of infection risk from the novel coronavirus infection, and the current status if infected.
