Experience 'ROOF: A Stay Beyond Time' in a Renovated Century-Old Traditional House

ROOF, which operates a rental service for entire traditional houses, has rebranded from 'INAKA: Stay Like a Local' to 'ROOF: A Stay Beyond Time.' Three new locations have simultaneously opened in Yamanashi Prefecture to coincide with this rebranding.

LOOF has been operating a rental service for renovated traditional houses in Fujikawaguchiko Town, Fuefuki City, Yamanashi Prefecture, a village of about 350 residents, since 2015. While preparing to shift from being a hotel that provides facilities centered on tourism to an experiential hotel that offers software where the hotel itself becomes a tourist destination, in line with the changing times, the coronavirus pandemic spread. In this situation, in addition to the form of experiential hotel they had envisioned, they rebranded to 'ROOF,' which incorporates new measures for the coronavirus era and utilizes vacant traditional houses.
'ROOF' has been revamped into a hotel where guests can experience the 'new standard model for hotels in the 'with-corona' era,' featuring completely contactless services from check-in, non-daily activities that can be enjoyed within the premises, and utilization for workations. As a new way to utilize traditional houses, they aim for regional revitalization and plan to create a system that allows anyone to operate through a franchise model.
The three newly opened locations are 'ROOF Sawa-no-ie,' 'ROOF Sho-no-ie,' and 'ROOF Oka-no-ie.' At each, guests can share experiences of 'fire' around a sunken hearth or bonfire, 'time' spent in a space where you can forget the passage of hours, and 'local' experiences with nature and traditional crafts with family and loved ones.
'ROOF Sawa-no-ie' is a stone-walled house by a mountain stream, offering enjoyment of the stream. At 'ROOF Sho-no-ie,' located amidst rural scenery, guests can experience calligraphy using Japanese paper and ink stones made in the region. Furthermore, 'ROOF Oka-no-ie,' situated on a hill surrounded by vineyards, allows guests to spend time engaging in experiences like natural dyeing or writing a letter to their future selves.
ROOF's accommodations offer a chance to experience different facets depending on the traditional house chosen. This travel style embodies a new standard for the 'with-corona' era.
