Support children in Tohoku through your love of running!
The charity project “Run for Children Tohoku” began with the motivation to participate in the “Tokyo Marathon 2012” held on Sunday, February 26th. Donations have been solicited through “Just Giving Japan,” an online donation platform that transforms individual challenges, particularly in sports, into charitable activities. Donations are directed tothe Great East Japan Earthquakeand the “Hataichi Fund,” which supports children affected by the disaster.
It has been almost a year since then. On this special day, March 11th, the charity project “Run for Children Tohoku,” with the cooperation of “adidas,” will hold a charity run. Participants will gather at “adidas RUNBASE,” an athletic facility operated by adidas, and run around the Imperial Palace together. Participation fees will be collected as donations and given in full to the “Hataichi Fund.”
“We’ve prepared a 5km course, one lap around the Imperial Palace, or a 10km course, two laps, which participants can choose based on their physical condition and mood. It’s designed to be easily accessible even for beginners. On the day, at 2:46 PM, the time the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred, we will observe a moment of silence for the many lives lost. We also plan to share information about the activities of the Hataichi Fund, our donation recipient, and our impressions of the Tokyo Marathon. Anyone who loves running, or is interested but hasn’t taken the first step, is welcome to join us!”

This event brings together people who share a common passion for running, offering not only a chance to contribute to charity but also an opportunity to expand their network of fellow runners. Additionally, expect engaging talks from staff members of the “Hataichi Fund,” who continue their work in the disaster-stricken regions, and insights from Matsuura as he reflects on the “Tokyo Marathon.” Let’s do our part for charity through the running we love!
