Cloudy Bay, the renowned New Zealand wine brand, has released its 2020 vintage, "Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2020." This year, favorable weather conditions led to perfect grape maturation, but the harvest was carried out amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, requiring strict adherence to social distancing and rigorous hygiene protocols. Overcoming these challenges, the winery has produced what is considered its finest vintage to date, a memorable wine boasting superb balance, refined acidity, and vibrant fruit flavors.

Cloudy Bay's "Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2020" is not only the winery's finest vintage but also a truly "memorable" wine, crafted under unprecedented circumstances. The 2019-2020 growing season in New Zealand was dry yet slightly cooler than the previous year, conditions that allowed the fruit to be harvested in near-perfect state. This resulted in a Sauvignon Blanc with exceptional balance, refined acidity, and the signature vibrant fruit character of Cloudy Bay.

During the grape harvest, New Zealand was under a nationwide lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fortunately, the wine industry was recognized as an essential service, permitting the harvest to continue. This process, however, was conducted under extraordinary conditions, demanding strict social distancing and rigorous hygiene measures.

After the harvested grapes' free-run juice was settled and racked at low temperatures, the fermentation process primarily utilized stainless steel tanks. Four percent of the juice was fermented at higher temperatures in old French oak barriques and larger casks.

As in previous years, the blending process involved the meticulous selection of the finest wines from 91 different batches, resulting in a captivating wine that prominently features aromas of ripe grapefruit, kaffir lime, and passionfruit. On the palate, it offers a tantalizing taste supported by a crispness of lime and lemongrass, the juiciness of stone fruits, and a subtle minerality. The vibrant, concentrated fruit and freshness provide power and balance, leading to a long, memorable finish.

The restrictions imposed by COVID-19 significantly increased the burden on our production process, but it was achieved through the dedication of our professional team.
