A Miraculous Vintage That Overcame Nature's Trials

Dom Pérignon is a brand characterized by its precision, power, texture, minerality, complexity, and perfection, along with a long-lasting finish. Through its perfect harmony, it expresses the brand's aesthetic and special values. From this maison comes Dom Pérignon Vintage 2010, crafted solely from grapes harvested in 2010 and slowly aged for 10 years.
However, this release was also a significant gamble for the maison. The first half of 2010 recorded the lowest temperatures since 1996, and after a freezing winter and cool spring, the summer, while not reaching extreme heat, was characterized by low rainfall and dry, ideal conditions.
In mid-August, signaling the end of summer, two days of rain equivalent to two months' worth fell, drastically changing the growing conditions. Thanks to this rain and heat, the grapes ripened sufficiently in a short period, but botrytis (grey mold) appeared during harvest, affecting the Pinot Noir grapes.
Faced with this challenging situation, the maison's extensive experience with terroir and keen observation led to a rapid harvest and meticulous selection of the grapes. Although some grapes were lost, the Pinot Noir, saved by extremely precise decisions, was exquisite, as was the Chardonnay, which benefited from full ripeness.
Indeed, the Chardonnay exhibited richness, depth, and balance, marking it as the best in the past 30 years. After assemblage, these two grape varietals achieved perfect harmony, with the Pinot Noir offering power and a balanced structure and texture. Thus, through the inspiration, experience, and honed skills passed down through the maison, Dom Pérignon Vintage 2010 was completed.
The aroma first presents a sweet bouquet of tropical fruits like green mango, melon, and pineapple, followed by softer notes of refreshing orange and subtle mandarin. Subsequently, one can savor floral scents reminiscent of flowers blooming after rain, such as peony, jasmine, and lilac. The taste is rich and opulent from the first sip. Within the ripe, juicy flavors that stimulate the senses, a rich and firm mouthfeel gives way to a spicy, zesty finish, concluding with a pleasant salinity that lingers.
