Savor the delicate cuisine of Chef Shinichi Sato, holder of two Michelin stars

In recent years, Japan has established itself as a global culinary powerhouse. The "Michelin Guide Tokyo 2025" features 170 starred establishments, solidifying Tokyo's position as the world's leading gastronomic city for 18 consecutive years, surpassing Paris.
1998: Welcoming Chef Alain Ducasse
Since its establishment in 1964, Hotel New Otani has contributed to the development of Japanese food culture, introducing the world's cutting-edge restaurant scene to Japan. In 1984, it opened "Tour d'Argent Tokyo," the sole international branch of a Parisian institution boasting 400 years of history. In 1998, it hosted a collaboration fair with French culinary master Alain Ducasse, continuing its tradition of ambitious proposals that leverage Otani's heritage and trust.
In 2015, the hotel launched "THE GASTRONOMY," a collaboration fair series with Japanese chefs highly acclaimed overseas. To date, 17 chefs have participated in this fair, including Chef Shinichi Sato, the first Japanese chef to achieve two Michelin stars in Paris. This event will be a special celebration of Hotel New Otani's 60th anniversary, coinciding with the triumphant return of Chef Sato and his newly opened restaurant, "Blanc."
Chef Sato broke the "jinx" in the French culinary world that "it's impossible for a Japanese person to earn two stars" when he opened his restaurant "Passage 53" in 2009. Within just two years, it received two Michelin stars. He later closed "Passage 53" in 2019 to pursue new challenges and opened his new restaurant, "Blanc," in the 16th arrondissement of Paris in 2023.

"Blanc" is situated on the former site of the legendary restaurant of Henri Faugeron, a chef who maintained two Michelin stars for approximately 30 years. The new establishment, designed by Kengo Kuma and Associates, features an interior reminiscent of a contemporary art gallery. The name "Blanc," meaning "white" in French, symbolizes the chef's culinary philosophy. His simple, unadorned dishes pursue Japanese delicacy and pure flavors.
This fair will be held in the main dining rooms of Hotel New Otani in Tokyo and Osaka. "Bella Vista" in Tokyo, located on the 40th floor of the 144-meter-high hotel, offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Skytree and other Tokyo landmarks. "SAKURA" in Osaka also boasts a stunning vista overlooking Osaka Castle and the city skyline from its top floor. Both venues have a distinguished history as stages for collaborations with numerous renowned chefs.
This is a special opportunity to savor cuisine that embodies the latest global restaurant scene, right in the heart of Tokyo and Osaka, culinary meccas. We invite you to indulge in Chef Sato's pure and delicate French cuisine, and spend a luxurious moment that transcends the everyday.
