Dassai, enhanced with the allure of traditional craftsmanship.
BARNEYS NEW YORK | BARNEYS NEW YORK Dassai BLUE
BARNEYS NEW YORK is releasing a limited edition of 400 sets of "Dassai BLUE," a special Japanese sake produced at Asahi Shuzo's "Dassai New York Brewery." This collaboration set combines the fashion sensibility of BARNEYS NEW YORK with the quality of Dassai.
When Japanese Sake Becomes an Art Piece
"Dassai BLUE" is a special, limited-edition sake developed within the Dassai lineup, with a particular focus on the European and American markets. It uses a unique blend of Yamada Nishiki rice from Japan and Yamada Nishiki rice from the United States. This blend achieves a exquisite balance of flavors, resulting in a smooth and clear taste.
Furthermore, its alcohol content is set at 14%, one degree lower than traditional Dassai, giving it a mouthfeel closer to wine. This distinctive brewing method and taste have been well-received in overseas markets.
The collaboration with BARNEYS NEW YORK marks another special release for "Dassai BLUE." Particularly noteworthy is its presentation in a BARNEYS NEW YORK exclusive original box. This box, designed to reflect the brand's sophisticated style, is sure to appeal to collectors.
Sake cups for enjoying "Dassai BLUE" are also included as special items in the set. These cups are handcrafted by two renowned ceramic artists, each possessing the value of a unique work of art.
The first artist is Koichi Mizuno. He opened "Pottery Studio Ichigama" in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture, and continues to pursue innovation while preserving traditional Japanese techniques. Mizuno constantly undertakes new challenges using his exceptional pottery wheel skills, and his works are a masterful fusion of contemporary sensibility and tradition. The sake cups he creates are characterized by their exquisite design, which enhances the refined taste of Dassai BLUE.
The second artist is Nobuyuki Ogawa, a ceramicist known for his delicate and sophisticated designs. Ogawa excels in techniques that express frothy expansions, often incorporating gold and silver. His works are characterized by bold color palettes and elegant curves. His designs are highly acclaimed worldwide, garnering a large following. Ogawa's sake cups are not only visually beautiful but also feel comfortable in the hand, making them an excellent match for any beverage.
With its enhanced appeal as an art piece, this item is also perfect as a gift for someone special. The collaboration with the prestigious brand BARNEYS NEW YORK transforms this set from a mere purchase of Japanese sake into a special experience that celebrates the fusion of fashion and art. It is a must-have not only for sake enthusiasts but also for those interested in art and design.
