A Gastronomic Journey Using the Same Ingredients in Different Dishes

For this event, two chefs, each specializing in different genres, will collaborate in the same kitchen, creating dishes inspired by their respective perspectives on Marco Polo's 13th-century journey from Italy to China.

Invited to participate is Master Chef Steven Ng from Shang Palace, Shangri-La Singapore's Chinese restaurant, who will collaborate with Paolo Pelosi, the chef of Piacere, Shangri-La Tokyo's Italian restaurant.

Marco Polo, a merchant of the Republic of Venice and an adventurer who left the first travelogue of Asia in the 13th century, is said to have brought noodles, which originated in China, back to his homeland, leading to the genesis of today's pasta.

For this event, using common ingredients such as scallops, red snapper, and pork, the course menu will feature one Italian dish and one Chinese dish per course, each inspired by Marco Polo's journey.

The pinnacle of the course menu is the 'Peking Duck Ravioli with Five-Spice Consommé,' a fusion of one of Italy's most popular pasta dishes and a representative Chinese dish, Peking Duck. This dish embodies a culinary journey woven from ingredients with distinct characteristics.
