A Feast of "Iwate French" by Chef Ito and Refined Swiss Wines

This year, marking the "150th Anniversary of Swiss-Japanese Diplomatic Relations," a collaborative wine dinner by Chef Katsuya Ito of "L'Aureole"—who triumphed in the Iron Chef competition—and Swiss wine "Château Les Roches" from the Vaud region will be held on Friday, September 5th, in a traditional Japanese house located within the Ishiguro Farm in Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture.

Chef Ito champions the appeal of French cuisine through "Iwate French," utilizing fresh ingredients from Tohoku, such as guinea fowl and Maesawa beef, sourced locally in Iwate Prefecture. He also serves as the executive committee chairman for "Soul of Tohoku," an initiative supporting the recovery of disaster-stricken areas and the food industry after the Great East Japan Earthquake. He continues to act as a bridge between many chefs and Tohoku's producers, promoting the excellence of Tohoku's culinary offerings.

Meanwhile, "Château Les Roches" derives its name from a 13th-century castle surrounded by vineyards, presided over by interior designer Pierre Bouvier. This time, we welcome Marketing Director Benoît Lybre. It is said that the interior of "Château Les Roches," designed by Pierre, subtly reflects Japanese aesthetics, influenced by his uncle, a travel writer with ties to Japan.

We invite you to savor the collaboration between Chef Ito's "Iwate French" and the exquisitely refined "Château Les Roches" wines—born from the pure light, clear air, pristine water, and unblemished soil of Lake Geneva's shores—in a region steeped in the legacy of Kenji Miyazawa.
