Jameson, a whiskey brand born in Ireland—the birthplace of whiskey and a land known for producing high-quality spirits—is making its mark. Following the flagship Jameson Original and Jameson Select Reserve, launched this May, the premium whiskey Jameson Gold Reserve, highly acclaimed overseas, has now landed in Japan.
Jameson Gold Reserve was crafted by Billy Leighton, Jameson's Master Blender, through his innovative blending techniques. Using Ireland's distinctively flavorful pot still and grain whiskeys, it is matured in three types of casks: virgin American oak, which is not typically used for Jameson whiskeys, alongside bourbon and sherry casks. The whiskey, aged in casks of different types, results in a luxurious taste with a complex flavor profile.
Upon tasting, Jameson Gold Reserve offers a subtle spicy note from the virgin American oak, layered with the sweetness of vanilla, the fruitiness of sherry, and the nuttiness of toasted almonds, earning it high praise internationally. It has garnered accolades at global spirits competitions, including a gold medal at the 2013 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
The use of new virgin American oak casks embodies the brand motto, honoring the pioneering spirit of founder John Jameson, who was "not afraid." Jameson Gold Reserve invites us to experience its fresh and complex taste, a journey worth taking.
