The second installment of "Wine that makes Japanese cuisine taste even better" is a red wine


Jacob's Creek will release its second "Wine that makes Japanese cuisine taste even better" on March 10th (Monday), in a Japan-first launch. This red wine was co-developed with Toru Hashimoto, of the long-established Edo-style Kaiseki restaurant, Kappo Nihonbashi Toyoda.

Last March, Jacob's Creek, a leading Australian wine brand, launched Jacob's Creek "Wa" white wine, co-developed with Mamoru Sugiyama, the fourth-generation head of Ginza Sushi Kō Honten, with the concept of "Wine that makes Japanese cuisine taste even better." Following its initial release in Japan, it is now sold in six countries worldwide.

For the second installment, Jacob's Creek "Wa" Red, Toru Hashimoto, the fifth-generation proprietor of Kappo Nihonbashi Toyoda—an Edo-style Kaiseki restaurant with over 150 years of history—supervised the wine's flavor. Blended with the "five tastes, five colors, five methods" characteristic of Japanese cuisine in mind, it pursues a perfect match with base Japanese seasonings such as dashi, soy sauce, miso, and mirin. The result is a red wine with a light mouthfeel, yet a good balance of ample fruitiness and acidity, that enhances the delicate flavors of Japanese dishes.

It pairs well with a wide range of dishes, from tuna sashimi to grilled or simmered fish, and even chicken tatsuta-age. So, if you're unsure about which wine to pair with your Japanese meal, why not try Jacob's Creek "Wa" Red?
