A "One Theme = Food" Talk Event Featuring One "Teacher" and Diverse "Students"

"SYNAPSE Classroom" is a series that invites various researchers as lecturers to explore contemporary media, society, and the way we perceive the world through their creatively rich research themes.

The guest for this event, Dr. Michio Takahashi, is the author of "Hitowa Okashina Niku Shokudō" (Kodansha+α Bunko). After serving as a professor at the University of Tokyo, he became the director of the Ajinomoto Co., Inc. Health and Nutrition Research Laboratories, where he engaged in research on amino acids and plant-based ingredients, which are integral to our diet.

He examines our eating habits and food culture from the perspective of "humans as living beings" and discusses the mismatch between "humans as Homo sapiens" and "humans as civilized beings." On the day of the event, we will delve into various topics related to "food."

Furthermore, in SYNAPSE Classroom, researchers are designated as "teachers," and guests active in various fields are invited as "students." These students pose questions and engage in discussions with the teacher from their unique perspectives. This time, we will welcome guests such as Eisuke Tachikawa/NOSIGNER, a globally active designer, and Shin Sasaki, editor-in-chief of "HITSPAPER." It is anticipated that new insights will emerge from the exchange of opinions among these diverse guests.
