Text by KAJII Makoto (OPENERS)
Only 10 bottles of each vintage will be sold in Japan
Perrier Jouët's prestige cuvée, "Belle Epoque," is a champagne born only in years with exceptional grape harvests, using the finest Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs region of France. Past back vintages have been carefully preserved by the maison as "Art of Vintage," telling the story of "Belle Epoque's" history.
The "Art of Vintage" champagnes are blended with the same varietal proportions for every vintage, with aging allowing each bottle's unique characteristics to fully emerge, making each one exceptionally precious.
From this rare collection, three exceptional back vintages—1996, 1985, and 1982—selected by Cellar Master Hervé Deschamps for their outstanding quality, will be available in only a handful of countries worldwide, with just 10 bottles of each vintage sold in Japan.
Cellar Master Hervé Deschamps commented, "The reason I chose 1996, 1985, and 1982 specifically for this 'Art of Vintage' release is that they most beautifully embody the Perrier Jouët style and are at their absolute peak drinking window right now. Despite a very challenging climate, 1996 became the finest vintage I have ever produced. This complex wine is full of vitality and freshness. In contrast, 1985 is profound and possesses an indescribable magnificence. 1982 is an extremely luxurious creation that allows one to fully savor the aromas of the finest Chardonnay from Cramant and Avize, and it is a memorable vintage from the year I joined the maison."
Each bottle in the "Belle Epoque Art of Vintage" collection features the Cellar Master Hervé Deschamps' handwritten signature on the back label, attesting to the champagne's quality, delivered with his utmost confidence.
