This Year's Theme: "Sake and Global Cuisine Pairing"

CRAFT SAKE WEEK, an event where both sake novices and enthusiasts can enjoy a wide range of Japanese sake, returns this year. Focusing on sake and food pairings, it brings together exceptional restaurants from around the world. The event runs from Friday, April 19th to Monday, April 29th, 2019.

On the Final Day, Restaurants with Hard-to-Get Reservations Make a One-Day Appearance

The event "CRAFT SAKE WEEK at ROPPONGI HILLS 2019," where you can savor Japan's finest 110 selected sake breweries and cuisine from top-tier restaurants, will be held in Roppongi, Tokyo.

In recent years, as sake's popularity has grown, its compatibility with various cuisines beyond Japanese food has become increasingly recognized. Sake is also gaining attention in Asian countries, which share a rice-based culture similar to Japan and produce fermented and distilled beverages from rice, with consumption steadily expanding year by year.

Against this backdrop, this year's theme is "Sake and Global Cuisine Pairing." Throughout the 11-day event, the first half will feature five restaurants offering Asian cuisine, a new pairing focus for sake. The second half will bring together five restaurants, primarily serving European cuisine, as the Japan-EU Economic Partnership Agreement has led to the abolition of tariffs on alcoholic beverages, further boosting expectations for sake consumption.
