A Space for the Stylish Businessman to Relax
The Monocle Café, the first of its kind, builds on the style and atmosphere of "Monocle Café Tokyo," the world's first café supervised by Monocle, which opened at Hankyu MEN'S TOKYO in October 2011. It offers a comfortable space not only for Monocle readers but for all who love coffee culture. The interior design was handled entirely by Monocle's design team, led by Yoshi Takagi, who, together with EDO Design & Construction, created the café Monocle envisioned.
The ground floor, with its striking custom-made red oak counter, features a magazine rack displaying everything from the latest Monocle issues to back numbers, allowing guests to spend their time as they please, whether working or reading, in a relaxed atmosphere. There are also terrace seats where you can enjoy the bustle of Chiltern Street. The basement level is equipped with a screen and projector, and can be reserved by subscribers. Furthermore, the sofa seats with ottomans offer a place to relax while listening to "Monocle 24," Monocle's 24-hour internet radio.
The food menu includes fresh coffee selected by the Allpress Espresso roasting team from New Zealand and Australia, Monocle's signature rich cheese toast, and seasonal Midori salads, available for both dine-in and takeaway. We also offer sweets from "Lanka," created by Japanese chef Masayuki Hara, also known for his work at the two-Michelin-starred restaurant Le Gavroche.
From the sunshades to the takeaway bags, the interior, consistently designed by the Monocle magazine team, is truly a relaxing space for sophisticated adults. It's a must-visit spot when you're in London.
