Two "Don't Call Them Lady Killers!" Are Ready

RUTTEN_, a cafe that opened in February 2018, is operated by Araoka Glass, which manages eyewear shops "Blink Gaienmae" and "Blink Base." With the concept of "enjoying the in-between" in Ueno, an area with which it has connections, the cafe offers coffee and alcoholic beverages. Among its popular offerings are original sours (sparkling alcoholic drinks). From November 30th, a special event focused on sours, "Sour Paradise Vol. 2 ~Don't Call Them Lady Killers!~," will be held. Original merchandise will also be available.

Collect Coasters for Original Merchandise Gifts

Since its opening, RUTTEN_ has focused on researching and developing original sours, spearheaded by manager Yusuke Shinkai. Inspired by the cocktails known as "Lady Killers" that defined the 1980s, they conceived of translating their deliciousness and nostalgic atmosphere into sours. Now, two types of original sours have been perfected.

"Don't Call Them Lady Killers! Showa-dori Edition" (610 yen/excl. tax) is made by extracting espresso from the original blend served in-store, then shaking it with a mild whiskey to create a shakerato. It's characterized by a subtle sweetness, and the acidity and bitterness of the coffee.

"Don't Call Them Lady Killers! Kuramaebashi-dori Edition" (610 yen/excl. tax) uses seasonal apple syrup. The syrup is infused with herbs to enhance its aroma, and then combined with whiskey. It's said to be so smooth and easy to drink that you might forget it's an alcoholic beverage.

At "Sour Paradise Vol. 2 ~Don't Call Them Lady Killers!~," starting November 30th, these new sours will make their debut alongside a total of 12 varieties, including their standard offerings. Furthermore, by collecting three coasters, aligning with the number '38' (sawa) in 'sour,' customers will receive an original can badge, and those who collect eight coasters will receive a special glass made by the cafe.

The main visual for this event was created by Mai Nagao, who works at "Blink Gaienmae" and "Blink Base" while also pursuing a career as an illustrator. The artwork, inspired by the subtle dynamics of adult romance, along with the event's name, are featured on merchandise including sweatshirts (6,000 yen/excl. tax), coach jackets (9,000 yen/excl. tax), jet caps (4,000 yen/excl. tax), ballpoint pens (250 yen/excl. tax), and can badges (250 yen/excl. tax). These items are available in limited quantities, so early purchase is recommended.
