A Rare Blend with Subdued Chardonnay Presence

Founded in 1743, Moët & Chandon has continued to captivate people worldwide.

The "Grand Vintage Collection" is made exclusively from the wines of a year when exceptional quality grapes were cultivated, thanks to favorable weather. Since the first vintage champagne appeared in 1842, it has impressed many wine connoisseurs.

Vintage champagnes, aged for longer than the legal minimum, are special creations brought to life by the freedom of expression and artistry of Cellar Master Benoît Gouez. Their taste, which expresses the potential and character of the grapes to the fullest, is highly regarded by enthusiasts.

Now, the 74th vintage champagne, "Grand Vintage 2012," is being released.

2012 was an unprecedented year in the history of winemaking. Frosts in winter persisted into late spring, followed by heavy rain, storms, and cold snaps. Furthermore, at the end of summer, extreme heat and drought further impacted the grapes and vineyards.

However, in August, hot and dry weather prevailed, allowing the fruit to ripen healthily. As a result, combined with a low yield, the flavors were concentrated in the well-ripened fruit, producing grapes with the highest sweetness and acidity in the past decade.

"Grand Vintage 2012" is crafted from wines fermented from exceptionally good Meunier from that year, with a unique blend that emphasizes subdued Chardonnay, the star of the assemblage.

Upon tasting, suppleness and freshness spread across the palate, gradually revealing a cashmere-like, soft texture. The initial sweetness eventually transforms into a structured acidity, leading to a finish with spicy aromas and a hint of iodine.

"Grand Vintage 2012," which overcame harsh weather conditions, is a cuvée that elegantly expresses its distinct character with a gentle, fresh, and harmonious taste.
