Perrier-Jouët's Deep Connection with Art
Founded in Epernay, in the heart of the Champagne region, in 1811, Perrier-Jouët boasts over two centuries of history as a venerable maison. It was a pioneering house, being the first to produce Brut (dry) champagne. From its inception, the maison has cherished its connection with nature and art. In 1902, a bottle adorned with anemones, painted by Émile Gallé, a leading glass artist of the Art Nouveau movement, was created. These anemones remain the symbol of Perrier-Jouët to this day.
Perrier-Jouët has consistently fostered collaborations with a diverse range of artists who define their eras, including Gallé, as well as contemporary talents such as Daniel Arsham, Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance, Makoto Azuma, and Todd Selby.
World Premiere of Collaborative Artwork at DESIGNART TOKYO 2018
Perrier-Jouët is participating as the official champagne at DESIGNART TOKYO 2018, held from Friday, October 19th to Sunday, October 28th. The maison will unveil "HyperNature," a collaborative work with British artist Bethan Laura Wood, for the first time globally.
Wood is a rising artist renowned for her exceptional sense of color, active across a wide spectrum of design, including furniture, lighting, and accessories.
"HyperNature" is a creation inspired by Perrier-Jouët's champagnes and the maison's extensive art collection.
This art piece fantastically showcases the visual balance and design of trees and flowers thriving in a boundless natural landscape, elegantly merging the effervescence and delicacy of champagne.
During the event, Perrier-Jouët will open a pop-up bar at "Spiral Cafe" on the first floor of Spiral in Omotesando.
Internationally acclaimed spatial designer Kazunori Matsumura has created exquisite paper objects featuring the gradient colors used in Wood's artwork.
The space, designed to evoke a cluster of plants, not only embodies the world of Perrier-Jouët but also maximizes the allure of "HyperNature."
At the venue, guests can enjoy Perrier-Jouët champagne by the glass alongside the art. Furthermore, champagne seminars and free-flow events will be held, offering a unique opportunity to fully immerse oneself in the fusion of Perrier-Jouët and art.
