A Founder's Dream, Passed Down Through Generations
The "ÉDITION" representing the Maison's founder's vision, passed down through generations, is now inscribed on the label of Krug Grande Cuvée. This label expresses Krug's recreation, which has continued since 1845.

The Founder's Dream: "ÉDITION"
Krug Grande Cuvée has embodied the vision of Maison founder Joseph Krug since its establishment in 1843: to craft Champagne of the highest quality every year, regardless of the weather.
This means recreating the founder's dream year after year, and "ÉDITION" is the number indicating how many times this recreation has been achieved. From the 163ème "ÉDITION", the "ÉDITION" will now be inscribed on the front label of Krug Grande Cuvée.
The first Champagne Krug ever produced used grapes from the 1844 harvest, and was blended and bottled in 1845. In 1845, Krug Grande Cuvée, the epitome of Champagne's essence, was born.
"ÉDITION" 1 is the first recreation of Krug Grande Cuvée, crafted from the 1845 harvest, blended and bottled in 1846.
Krug Grande Cuvée is a blend of over 120 wines from more than 10 different years, including wines crafted up to 15 years prior to the current year. This process creates a depth of flavor and aroma that cannot be achieved with the wine of a single year.
Furthermore, with a minimum of seven years of aging, it imparts a unique and elegant taste to Krug Grande Cuvée.
Thus, over 20 years pass from the creation of a single bottle of Krug Grande Cuvée to its completion. Like all Krug Champagnes, each recreation can be enjoyed immediately or cellared for decades.
