The Lineup of "Cave d'Occi" Wines Available on Amazon
The winery "Cave d'Occi," named after "a cave in a hollow," was founded in 1992 by Kiichiro Ochi with the vision of "making authentic wine in Japan." It is a Niigata winery that operates with a commitment to low-volume production and consumption, the complete opposite of the mass production and mass consumption that Japan has pursued for decades.
The Amazon Food & Beverage Store, the only online store that officially handles Cave d'Occi Winery's products, will release the Cave d'Occi wines that sold out instantly last December in late April, in limited quantities.

Delivering 11 "Valuable Bottles" Directly from Niigata's Cave d'Occi Winery!

Cave d'Occi Winery is located in the sandy dune area between the Sea of Japan and the Shinano River, at the foot of Mt. Tsunekata, facing the Sea of Japan in Niigata Prefecture. This sandy soil shares conditions remarkably similar to those of the Bordeaux region in France, and its well-draining earth is ideal for cultivating high-quality wine grapes.
Approximately 22,000 wine grapevines are planted across 7 hectares of vineyards. Around 300,000 people visit Cave d'Occi annually seeking the approximately 60,000 bottles of highly rare wine produced from this vast vineyard. The fact that 95% of sales occur at the on-site directly managed stores attests to the winery's popularity.

The "Milieu" series, which began in 2005, is one of Cave d'Occi's core wines, with "Milieu" meaning "middle" or "center." It is produced annually with the aim of creating a well-balanced wine that one can drink without tiring. Milieu Blanc, made with Chardonnay, is a dry white wine with a delicate aroma and a gentle palate.
Milieu Rouge 2011 1950 yen
The 2011 vintage is primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, blended with Regent, a variety gaining attention in Germany in recent years. While the freshness of Regent is prominent when young, the nuances of Cabernet Sauvignon emerge with aging.

This slightly sweet rosé, made from Cabernet Sauvignon, has a pleasant acidity and a crisp taste.
Kerner 2011 2520 yen
Kerner is a white wine characterized by its vibrant flavor. It offers a harmonious balance of moderate acidity and natural sweetness, with a gentle aroma of citrus and white flowers. Best served well chilled.
Zweigeltrebe 2011 2520 yen
This premium red wine grape, native to Austria, is known for its rich fruitiness and mellow taste. The 2011 vintage has a subtle sweet aroma of berries, with firm acidity and moderate tannins that provide structure to the overall flavor.
Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 3360 yen
Cabernet Sauvignon, a primary varietal in Bordeaux, France, is cultivated worldwide as one of the grapes that yields high-quality red wines. The intense summer heat of 2010 lent depth and rich fruitiness to this wine. It also exhibits a strong herbaceous aroma derived solely from perfectly ripe grapes. The palate is delicate and smooth. As it is still a young wine, allowing it to breathe in the glass will reveal evolving aromas. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.
Merlot 2010 3360 yen
Merlot is a representative red wine grape variety originating from Bordeaux, France. Compared to Cabernet Sauvignon, another signature grape from Bordeaux, it is characterized by a softer taste. This wine was meticulously crafted after waiting for the grapes to fully ripen and carefully removing any diseased or unripe fruit. It is a well-balanced wine with harmonious fruitiness and tannins, aged for 7 months in oak barrels.
Chardonnay 2009 3098 yen
Chardonnay occupies the largest area in Cave d'Occi's vineyards. The favorable harvest weather in 2009 yielded high-quality grapes. After slow fermentation at low temperatures, the wine was aged for 9 months in barrels. The result is a wine with a slightly sweet fruity aroma and a full-bodied taste with a pleasant palate.
Chardonnay 2010 3098 yen
The hot summer of 2010 imparted gentle acidity and rich fruitiness to the wine. Accordingly, over 50% new oak barrels were used for aging, resulting in a wine with a sweet aroma. Enjoy how the aromas evolve over time.
Sparkling Wine Rose 4200 yen
An authentic sparkling wine produced using secondary fermentation in the bottle. This is a full-bodied Brut wine with a beautiful rosé color and fine bubbles.
Riesling 2011 2100 yen
Riesling is a representative white wine grape variety, on par with Chardonnay,
characterized by its floral, perfume-like aroma and crisp acidity. Although often made into a sweet wine, Cave d'Occi produces it dry, without added sweetness. Best served well chilled.
In addition to the 11 types of Cave d'Occi wines listed above, four types of "Echigo Mochibuta" sausage assortments will also be sold.
