"BOOK MARKET" Featuring Only Truly Interesting Books


The book fair "BOOK MARKET," a curated selection of "truly interesting books" for bibliophiles, will be held for two days on February 7th (Sat.) and 8th (Sun.) at "Cielo y Rio." In addition to book sales, there will be book-themed events and author signings.

Record Number of Publishers and Bookstores Participate to Enliven the Fair


This year, marking its seventh iteration, the fair features a record 21 unique publishers and bookstores, including Anoma Studio, Furuhon ricca, Kita Shoten, and Little More. They will offer a diverse range of "truly interesting books."

Furthermore, the venue will host a variety of talk events centered around books. In "It's Okay Not to Read Books, But...", book director Takanobu Haba and Mr. Sato, the owner of Kita Shoten, will engage in a candid and in-depth discussion about various books, including some more underground titles, and share insights on how to find and enjoy interesting books.

Reiko Tanaka, who runs the food gallery 612, will share essential tips on food that can be easily incorporated into daily life. This session is a must for anyone experiencing even minor discomforts.

Other events include "Reading Journeys, Traveling Reads" with Hitoshi Okamoto, former editor-in-chief of Magazine House's "Relax" magazine, and "About the Incredibly Great Uncle, Juzo Itami," a talk with Kenichi Samura, who served as art director for all 10 of Juzo Itami's films, sharing precious anecdotes about Mr. Itami. Reservations are required for these talk events.

Additionally, a complimentary eco-bag designed by illustrator Toshiyuki Fukuda will be gifted to those who purchase three or more books. This highly anticipated annual event, a favorite among book lovers, is a must-visit for anyone intrigued.
