BOOKMARC's First Signing Event

BOOKMARC opened in Harajuku last October as the first store in Asia. It offers a wide selection of books on art, music, and culture that reflect designer Marc Jacobs' inspirations, as well as accessories and stationery.

Now, to celebrate the release of "SHEETS," a photobook by the internationally active photographer Rinko Kawauchi published by the emerging German publisher KOMINEK BOOKS, BOOKMARC will host its first-ever signing event since opening.

In "SHEETS," Kawauchi presents contact sheets—the state of a photograph before it is released to the world, a stage photographers rarely show—which she herself selected and reconfigured, reproduced at their original size. It is a work akin to a private journal, offering a close look at the crucial act of selection, which is as important as the act of shooting itself.

Much like "BOOKMARC," which offers a glimpse into Marc Jacobs' mind, "SHEETS" allows us to intimately experience Kawauchi's creative impulses and intentions. This event presents an opportunity to connect more deeply with the sensibilities of both artists, whose creative worlds are usually only accessible through their finished works.
