Grace Coddington spent over 25 years as the Creative Director of American Vogue. Many may have taken notice of her through the documentary "The September Issue" (2009), which offered a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Vogue.
A titan of the fashion world, Grace was born in the UK. In 1959, she won a model competition hosted by Vogue and went on to have a successful modeling career in Paris and London. In 1968, she began her editorial journey as a junior fashion editor at British Vogue. Later, she became Fashion Director under the then-editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour. When Anna was appointed to lead American Vogue in 1988, Grace followed her to the US, becoming the right hand to the "iron-fisted" Anna, supporting Vogue's vision.
Now, in her seventies and still going strong, she presents her much-anticipated memoir. This lavish volume chronicles 50 years of fashion history with a vibrant and captivating narrative, told with wit and a refreshingly candid, lighthearted voice. It also includes a wealth of previously unpublished photographs and original drawings.
This book not only conveys the joy of creating groundbreaking fashion visuals but also delves into the vision and philosophy behind their production. Following her prominent role in "The September Issue," Coddington garnered significant attention beyond the fashion industry as a woman with integrity and a discerning eye. This book offers an intimate look into her personal life and her star-like radiance.
